Master Gunnery Sergeant Todd S. Rapoza

Master Gunnery Sergeant (MGySgt) Todd Steven Rapoza is a native of Fall River, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in October of 2000, and graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island in January 2001 as a Private. Private Rapoza graudated Infantry Training Battalion (1TB), School oflnfantry -East in March 2001 as a 0311 Infantryman.

Folowing SOI, Private Rapoza reported to Bravo Company, 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) Battalion, 29 Palms California, where he served as a scout. While assigned to 3rd LAR, Lance Corporal (LCpl) Rapoza conducted a Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Camp Schwab, Okinawa Japan in May of 2001. LCpl Rapoza participated in a Unit Exchange Program with Australian NORFORCE unit in Darwin Australia. LCpl Rapoza returned to 29 Palms California in January 2002.

In May of 2002 LCpl Rapoza executed orders to Quantico, VA to attend Marine Security Guard (MSG) School. Upon graduation from MSG School, LCpl Rapoza was assigned as a watch stander to United States Consulate Shanghai, Shanghai, China. In October of 2003, Corporal (Cpl) Rapoza received orders to report to United States Embassy Montevideo, Montevideo, Uruguay.

In December of2004 Sergeant (Sgt) Rapoza executed to report 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. In May of2005 Sgt Rapoza deployed as a Platoon Guide with 2nd platoon Whiskey Company, to Jalalabad Airfield in Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. In November 2005, Sgt Rapoza deployed as a squad leader with 2nd Platoon, Fox Company to Barhwana, Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

In December 2006, SSgt Rapoza executed orders to Education Command, Quantico, VA, where he was assigned as the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Visitor Services Detachment at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, in Triangle, VA. In Sept of2009 Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Rapoza awas assigned as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Operations Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion. In January 2010, SSgt Rapoza moved over to serve as the Battalion Training SNCO within the S3.

In January 2011, SSgt Rapoza reported to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA, and was assigned as a Section Leader, 1st Section, Combined Anti-Armor Team 2, Weapons Company. In November 2011 SSgt Rapoza deployed in support of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. After returning from deployment SSgt Rapoza was assigned to 1st Platoon, Lima Company, as a Platoon Sergeant and deployed to Okinawa, Japan in support of UDP.

In June 2014, Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt) Rapoza reported to Marine Combat Instructor School, School of Infantry-West, Camp Pendleton, California. Upon graduation he was assigned as the Chieflnstructor for Delta Company, Infantry Training Battalion. In April 2016 he rotated to the Instructor Group and was assigned as the 0300 Course Chief.

In August 2017, GySgt Rapoza executed orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Base Smedley Butler, Okinawa Japan where he served as the Airbase Ground Defense Coordinator and Training Chief with in the S3. In October 2018, Master Sergeant (MSgt) Rapoza was assigned as the III MEF Training and Exercise Chief in the III MEF G-37.

In June 2020, MSgt Rapoza reported to MCB Quantico, where he was assigned as the Task Analyst with Ground Combat Element Section, of the Ground Standards Branch for Policy and Standards Division, where he was responsible for the maintaining and managing the Infantry Training and Readiness Manual.

In July 2022, MSgt Rapoza reported to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, and served as the Weapons Company Operations Chief. In Dec 2022 MSgt Rapoza served as the Operations Chief/Senior Enlisted Advisor in support of Operation CONTINUING PROMISE aboard the USNS Comfort.

In April of 2024, MGySgt Rapoza was promoted to his current rank and executed orders to 1st Ban 6th Marines for assignment as the Battalion Operations Chief. He is currently serving in that billet.

MGySgt Rapoza' s personal awards included (2) Navy Commendation Medals, (3) Navy Achievement Medals, Combat Action Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Marine Security Guard Ribbon, and Combat Instructor Ribbon.
