Biography

Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 6th Marines
Major Stephen A. Bloodsworth

Major Bloodsworth is a native of Salisbury, MD. He graduated Salisbury University and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant after completing Platoon Leaders Course. He subsequently attended The Basic School and Infantry Officers Course. In 2010 he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines where he deployed as a Platoon Commander, Company L on the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Company Advisor, Georgian Liaison Team to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, and as Executive Officer, Company K to Okinawa, Japan.

Upon promotion to Captain, he was assigned as the Operations Officer for Region 8 Central Europe and the Balkans, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group. He was subsequently assigned to Group Headquarters to serve as the Group Operations Officer. During this time, he attended the George C. Marshall Center for European Security Studies and earned his Master's in Diplomacy from Norwich University.  After completing his supporting establishment tour, he completed the Army’s Maneuver Captain Career Course.

From 2019-2020, he served as Company Commander, Company F, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines and deployed to Okinawa, Japan on the Unit Deployment Program. Upon completion of his Company Command time, he was promoted to Major and attended Advanced Maneuver Warfare Course enroute to his follow-on assignment.

From 2020 to 2022, he was assigned to the Command Element, III Marine Expeditionary Force and filled various billets within the Future Operations Division to include Joint Operations Coordinator, Naval Integration Officer, and Marine Rotational Force Darwin planner.

From 2022 to 2025, he assumed responsibilities as Commanding Officer Marine Security Guard Security Augmentation Unit, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group.  During this time, he oversaw the deployment of forces to Ukraine, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Chad, Mali, Central African Republic, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, Brazil, Ecuador, Haiti, Zimbabwe, and South Sudan.

In April 2025 he assumed responsibilities as Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 6th Marines.
