Major John Faucette

John “Andrew” Faucette II was born in Durham, NC on 9 July 1984.  He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, VA in July 2002 and immediately enlisted in the Marine Corps following the events of 9/11/2001. He completed recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, SC in November 2002.  Following recruit training, Private Faucette attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, NC, followed by the Field Radio Operator Course in Twentynine Palms, CA.

As an enlisted Marine he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.  During his enlisted time he served with Combat Service Support Detachment 25, Combat Logistics Battalion (CLB) 2, CLB 8, and Communications Company, 4th Marine Logistics Group (MLG).  He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005 and 2007, both times to the Al-Anbar Province.  During these deployments he participated in several named operations, most notably Operation Matador which is now known as the Battle of Al-Qaim.  He held the billets of Radio Operator, Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and Radio Chief.

In August 2010, SSgt Faucette was commissioned as a 2ndLt after completing Officer Candidates Course 204. He attended Basic Officer Course (BOC) 7-10 and Infantry Officer Course 3-11. As an officer he has served with 1st Battalion 4th Marines, 1st Battalion 24th Marines, 3rd Civil Affairs Group, Headquarters Marine Corps Manpower and Reserve Affairs, The Basic School, and 3rd Battalion 6th Marines.  He has held the billets of Rifle Platoon Commander, Combined Anti-Armor Team Platoon Commander, Weapons Company Commander, and BOC Company Commander for Bravo 2-23 and Echo 5-23.  He has held staff billets of Maritime Raid Force and Headquarters and Service Company Executive Officer (XO), Weapons Company XO, Battalion Fire Support Coordinator, Civil Affairs Team Leader, Reserve Officer Commissioning Program Monitor, TBS Tactics Group Section Head, and TBS XO. He is currently serving as the XO of 3rd Battalion 6th Marines.

During his drilling reserve time before returning to active duty, Maj Faucette served as a Michigan State Police Trooper in Flint where he worked on patrol targeting violent crime and on the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Maj Faucette is married and has two children. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology from North Carolina State University and a Master of Arts degree in Homeland Security from New England College.

Maj Faucette’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal x 2, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal x 2, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
