Master Gunnery Sergeant Dylan J. Rokos Operations Chief, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines

Master Gunnery Sergeant Rokos was born in Rochester, New York on 10 October 1979.  He reported to Boot Camp at MCRD Parris Island, SC on 22 April, 2001.  Following completion of training as an Assaultman at SOI-East, Private First Class Rokos transferred to Alpha Company,1st Battalion, 8th Marines.  Lance Corporal Rokos deployed as a SMAW team leader with 1st Battalion, 8th Marines in 2003 as part of the 26TH MEU, taking part in operations in Mosul Iraq ISO OIF and off the coast of Liberia. In June of 2004, then Corporal Rokos deployed again with 1st Battalion, 8th Marines to Al Anbar province taking part in Operation Phantom Fury and returning in January of 2005.

In May 2005, Corporal Rokos attended the Marine Combat Instructor Course.  Upon completion of the course he was assigned to the SOI-East, Corporal Rokos served with Charlie Company, Infantry Training Battalion where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  In December 2005, Sergeant Rokos was transferred to the instructor group, Infantry Training Battalion where he served as a primary instructor until his end of tour.

In May 2008, Sergeant Rokos reported to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines. He was assigned to Weapons Company, CAAT 2, as a Section Leader.  July 2008, Sergeant Rokos was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He deployed to Al Asad Iraq from March 2009 to September 2009 in support of OIF 9.2.  In November 2009, Staff Sergeant Rokos transferred to Alpha Company, 1st Platoon, as a Platoon Sergeant deploying to Musa Qula Afghanistan.

Staff Sergeant Rokos was assigned as the training and operations chief for Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines in June of 2011, overseeing the daily training and operations for the company as well as conducting operations in MWTC Bridgeport, CA, and Senigal, Africa.

Staff Sergeant Rokos reported to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines in May of 2014 and deployed in November of that year on the 31st MEU as a Weapons Platoon Sergeant, and as the Company Gunnery Sergeant. He was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in September 2014.

On 17 July, 2015, Gunnery Sergeant Rokos reported to 1st Marine Logistics Group and was assigned as the regimental training chief.

Gunnery Sergeant Rokos reported to Okinawa, Japan in November of 2016 as the SNCOIC of Pre-deployment Training Branch of Expeditionary Operations Training Group, III MEF.  In June of 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Rokos was assigned as the Operations Chief for III Expeditionary Operations Training Group and was promoted the rank of Master Sergeant in October 2018.

In November of 2019, Master Sergeant Rokos reported to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines and was assigned as the Weapons Company Operations Chief.  While assigned to this billet he oversaw Weapons Company operations at MWTC Bridgeport CA, and Norway.  In January of 2022, Master Sergeant Rokos transferred to the Battalion Operations Chief billet and promoted to his current rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant in February of 2022.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Rokos's personal awards include the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with four bronze stars in lieu of fifth award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with V with one bronze star in lieu of second award, Combat Action Ribbon with one gold star in lieu of second award, and various campaign and unit awards.
