Sergeant Major Daniel R. Laslett

Sergeant Major Daniel R. Laslett is a native of Redford, MI. He graduated from Redford Union High School in the class of 2000.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps in May of 2003 and attended recruit training in October of 2003 with Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion of recruit training, Private Laslett reported to Marine Combat Training, School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina.

In March of 2004, he reported to the Louis F. Garland Fire Academy, San Angelo, Texas for Military Occupational Specialty training as an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Specialist and was promoted to the rank of Private First Class (meritorious).

In August of 2004, Private First Class Laslett reported to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, South Carolina as a Turret Operator. In October of 2004, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal and assigned as the Training NCO and Driver Operator for the AS32 P-19 aircraft firefighting vehicle. Lance Corporal Laslett was promoted to the rank of Corporal (meritorious) in September of 2005 where he served as the Senior Rescue Man for all firefighting operations. In December of 2005, Corporal Laslett attended the Noncommissioned Officers Corporals course where he graduated with honors. In April of 2006, Corporal Laslett competed amongst his peers in the Marine Corps Installations East Meritorious Sergeant Promotion Board. Selected for promotion from that board, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in May of 2006 and assumed the duties as a Section Leader in addition to becoming the Installation Color Sergeant. In November of 2006, Sergeant Laslett reported to Sergeant's Course, Staff Noncommissioned Officers Academy, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia graduating in the top three of his class. In February 2007, Sergeant Laslett reported to the Louis F. Garland Fire Academy for Advanced Rescue Technician course.

In November 2007, Sergeant Laslett reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 371, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona and as the Senior Rescue Technician. In January 2008, Sergeant Laslett deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, as the Section Leader. Upon his return from deployment, he was assigned as the Senior Rescue Man and Administration Chief. In March 2009, Sergeant Laslett deployed with Marine Wing Support Squadron 371 to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In March 2010, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and served as the Deputy Operations Chief for Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting.

In September of 2010, Staff Sergeant Laslett reported to the Basic Recruiter Course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Upon completion, he reported to Recruiting Station Detroit, Michigan serving as a canvassing recruiter in the Recruiting Sub-station Pontiac, Michigan.

In January 2014, Staff Sergeant Laslett reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 274, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina as the Trucks Master, and Section Leader for all firefighting operations. In March of 2014, Staff Sergeant Laslett reported to the Career Course, Staff Noncommissioned Officers Academy, Camp Johnson, North Carolina. In July of 2014, Staff Sergeant Laslett reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 271, serving as the Trucks Master. He was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in November of 2014. Gunnery Sergeant Laslett served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Airfield Operations Company, Headquarters and Service Company, and Engineer Company. In June of 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Laslett reported to the Advanced Course, Staff Noncommissioned Officers Academy, Camp Johnson, North Carolina. He completed the First Sergeants Course and Regional E-8 Seminar in March of 2018 and was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant on 1 November 2018.

In May of 2018, First Sergeant Laslett reported to Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School, Air Control Training Squadron, Twentynine Palms, California. In January of 2021, First Sergeant Laslett attended the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, graduating at the top of his class. In May of 2021, he reported to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines where he served as the Weapons and Headquarters and Service Company Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

In November of 2022, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major and reported to 1st Battalion 8th Marines as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of a second award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of a second award.
