Lieutenant Colonel Gordinier enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1996 out of Topeka, KS and reported to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines in 1997. From 1997 to 2000 he served as a fireteam and squad leader on two Western Pacific (WestPac) Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Deployments executing duties in support of Operation Stablise in East Timor on his second deployment. In 2000, Sergeant Gordinier reported to NROTC Hampton Roads for the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP) and attended Old Dominion University. In 2002 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, received a minor in International Studies, and commissioned as a second lieutenant. In 2003, Lieutenant Gordinier attended The Basic School and the Infantry Officers Course. In 2004, Lieutenant Gordinier reported to 3d Battalion, 7th Marines where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2 and 4-6 serving as a rifle, 81mm mortar, and mobile assault platoon commander. In 2006, Captain Gordinier reported to The Basic School for instructor duty where he served as a Warfighting Instructor, Staff Platoon Commander for Companies C and I, and Infantry Officer Course Instructor. In 2010, Captain Gordinier graduated from the Maneuver Captains Career Course aboard Fort Benning, Georgia and then reported to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines where he served as the Assistant Operations Officer, the Headquarters & Service Company Commander, Company C Commander, and Battalion Operations Officer. While at 1st Battalion, 8th Marines Captain Gordinier participated in Operation Enduring Freedom 10.2 and 12.1. In 2013, Major Gordinier took command of Recruiting Station Richmond, VA. In 2016, Major Gordinier attended the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College and graduated with a Master of Arts in Military Studies as a Distinguished Graduate. Following staff college in 2017, he attended the School of Advanced Warfighting and graduated with a Master of Arts in Operational Studies. In 2018, Major Gordinier reported to 2d Marine Division and served as a MAGTF Planner where he was promoted to his current rank. LtCol Gordinier served as the Commanding Officer of 3d Battalion, 6th Marines from 12 March 2020 to 29 July 2022. His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and two Gold Stars, the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and Gold Star, and the Combat Action Ribbon with Gold Star. LtCol Gordinier is married to the former Joni Crawford of Great Bend, Kansas. They have two girls, two boys, and one son-in-law.
