Command Philosophy

1.  The purpose of this letter is to publish my thoughts on command, and leadership for our battalion. A battalion requires a shared vision and purpose. This vision starts with me, but is only attainable through all of our effort. I expect every Marine and Sailor to become familiar with this letter.

2.  The Leader

Leadership is about service, service to those you  lead, because without your Marines you are nothing.

Professionalism: Know your Marines, Know the Mission, Know your Job.

Take charge. If you do not we will find someone who will.

Challenge your Marines. Look for the best in your Men and capitalize on it.

Discipline: Hold the standard, attacking bad behaviors without attacking the Marine or Sailor's character.

3.  The Organization

Create an environment that breeds success. We will create opportunities for men to succeed, but it is up to the Marine or Sailor to take advantage of those opportunities. We are a family and we will take care of one another. We will not tolerate hazing or assault.

Family readiness is part of preparation for combat. We will provide the information Marines and Sailors need to prepare their families for stresses associated with Marine Corps life.

Respect the Organization. As quiet, professionals our of our unit.

4. The Individual

Seek excellence in everything you do. Seek mastery of your job.

Be a man of integrity. Men will live or die one day by the words.

Be a man of honor. Honor is the highest respect. The respect shown to others shows the respect one  has for himself.

Accountability. Everyone is accountable for their actions, equipment and readiness.

5. Through inspired leadership, we will fight and win with aggressive intuitive actions. Let us continue in the proud legacy that you and the Marines and Sailors before you have created.
